Chief Officers of State Library Agencies

COSLA is an independent organization of the chief officers of state and territorial agencies designated as holding responsibility for statewide library development.  At the heart of the organization is its mission to initiate, maintain and support cooperative action for the improvement of library services.  COSLA does this by providing leadership on issues of common concern and national interest, and by furthering state library agency relationships with state and federal governments, and national organizations.  COSLA's unique characteristics include its national reach, network of peers, cross-state lens, recognized leadership, and ability to act as an effective channel partner.
